Disney World vs Disneyland
Jeremy and I just came home from a much needed no-kids vacation. We will be celebrating 15 years of marriage next week and our last ‘big vacation’ was for our 10-year anniversary. We’ve had a few 2 to 3 night getaways, but nothing extensive or far away.
We had some flight points from our trip to Seattle last July and I was excited to snag round trip flights to LA for us for just $22 with our points! Naturally, my first choice was - let’s go to Disneyland!! I had never been (Jeremy went once when he was a kid, but doesn’t remember much!). I was so excited to finally see where everything started!
We arrived on Tuesday early from a nonstop morning flight and we headed straight to Downtown Disney - so crazy to see everything right there together!! We had a two-day ticket for Wednesday/Thursday and briefly thought about adding a day and just jumping into one of the parks… but food was in our mind and we just wanted to eat.
After lunch at Black Tap Craft Burgers and Shakes (yum)… we headed back to our hotel and found out or room still wasn’t ready - UGH. After sitting for an hour and trying to figure out what to do that night and going through multiple options, we finally decided to just head back to Disney and add an extra day to our tickets!
So… I’m about to walk into Disneyland Park for the first time, I take a moment to breathe and think about mom… walk on to Main Street, USA and my first thought… dang - that castle is tiny!!! 🤣
From there the rest of the trip goes like this…
I miss Magic Bands | They don’t have that in Disney World | That’s better in Disney World | I’m used to Disney World, how do you/where is…
Overall Impressions/Opinions
1. I actually liked the food options in Disneyland better
2. Disneyland Park feels like a miniature version of Magic Kingdom with Galaxy’s Edge randomly thrown in
3. Disney California Adventure is really fun - definitely liked it better than Disneyland Park
4. I did like how close the parks were - we didn’t do park hopper, but that would’ve been so convenient!
5. Spending $40 ($20/each) on Genie+ was 100% the right choice for us… but I struggle with the idea of spending $80 if the girls had been with us!
6. I much (re: 100%, completely and totally) prefer Disney World to Disneyland
Bottom line… we had a fantastic time and I’m glad we got away!
